Summer Solstice, Maximum Light and the Birth of Darkness

“We are officially in Summer, the season of the Fire element. We begin the season of Yang, of long days and energetic activity, of going out and enjoying the world around us. This is the season where our energies are the most active outwardly, a social time to be with others and outside in Nature. Summer is the time of flourishing and ripening, when the trees and plants flower and bear fruit.

“The beginning of Summer is also the time that the seed of Yin is born. From this time on, the days begin to grow shorter again and the nights longer. This time of cosmic shift is one of the most powerful times of the year to practice meditation. The effects of prayers are multiplied many times as well.”
