Why Taoism?

Why Taoism?

Taoism can be defined as the study and practice of the pattern of nature, within and without the body. It is a system of knowledge that has been passed down for thousands of years. Taoists have been refining deep meditative practices by living in an intimate relationship with the universe and nature, often in remote, isolated places, but also in urban areas.

Through a process of self-awareness and personal development, Taoists hope to realize and actualize humanity’s true nature. Within the physical body, the energetic structure is strengthened and grows to help one return to one’s original nature: health, joy, and freedom.

The Taoist wisdom tradition holds that any spiritual advancement is best when well-rooted in connection with the earth. Thus, in the Taoist view, progress occurs to the extent that the practitioner is grounded. Taoist practice helps one lead a fulfilling life, grow spiritually, help others, and realize a sense of purpose, even in, perhaps especially in, everyday activities.
