The Embryo’s Navel

The Embryo’s Navel

The importance of the Navel Center in meditation relates to its role in the development of the embryo. The embryo immediately begins to divide after conception and soon attaches to the wall of the uterus. As the umbilical cord develops, the fetus is nourished through it.

The umbilical cord attaches to the baby’s navel, and nutrients and energy enter the navel through the umbilical cord. After entering the navel, the energy travels to the major vital organs. These organs are nourished the energy channels are filled from the mother’s energy, through the umbilical cord.

In Taoist meditation and movement practice, the navel center is reactivated. Like in the embryo state, the whole body is nourished as the navel fills with energy. Deep breathing that creates a gentle pressure in the abdomen flushes toxins and stuck energy from the organs.

Taoist movement exercises such as tai chi, chi kung, tao yin, and iron shirt chi kung emphasize movement of and from the navel and lower lumbar. Life started in the lower abdomen and life continues from the lower abdomen. Throughout the day, we can bring our awareness there to feel more centered, calm our thoughts, and slow our heart rate.

If you’re new to meditation, just put your hands on your abdomen and breath deeply. Learn more:  The Alchemist’s Tao Te Ching: Transforming Your Lead Into Gold: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1718636970/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_yme-DbGFGZRDW
