Soles of the Feet and Bone Breathing
A Taoist teacher referred to the sacrum as the “bones manager.” His teaching is that when we work on the sacrum, we work on all our bones. The healing energy of the Earth can enter the body through the soles of the feet and travel up to the sacrum. We can feel the soles of the feet pulsing, the center of the earth, and the middle of the sacrum all breathing in sync as we inhale and exhale.
I like to start meditative practices with self massage; in this case, begin with self-massage of the feet. As the soles of the feet breath, massage the sacrum until it’s warm. The eight holes of the sacrum can breath and pulsate with the kidney-one point on soles of the feet. As you continue breathing, feel the bone marrow inside your sacrum. Feel energy rise from the feet, through the bones of the legs, into the sacrum, and up the spine.
After the energy has moved up the spine, feel it activate the bones of the skull. With practice we can feel the space between the bones of the skull moving slightly with each breath. Even the crown and third eye can be activated and opened through this process. Lastly, feel the energy flow down to the throat, the heart and the navel. Store the energy in the navel by circulating (with the mind or self massage) the energy 9, 18, or 36 times in each direction.
