Inner Smiling

Inner Smiling

One of the fundamental meditation practices of the Healing Tao System is the meditation called the Inner Smile. It’s one of my favorites and it’s a way of directing the energy of gratitude, thankfulness and just conscious awareness to various organs in the body. This meditation focuses on organs we rely on every minute of every day to perform their “involuntary” functions.

The Inner Smile is a time to return our thanks and bring our awareness inward. A lot of times our energy is in our head or going in and out of our sense organs. The Inner Smile gives us an opportunity to focus on the body intelligences that go on simultaneously inside of us.

It’s helpful, when you’re first learning, (or even if you’ve practiced a while) to use the hands to guide awareness to different organs and simply say ‘thank you.’  We can go to the heart, lungs, liver, spleen, and kidneys and simply say thank you. If you’d like, look at an anatomy book and learn their functions. If we love our organs, they’ll love us back.
