When you hear of the Tao,
You need to immediately practice it.
When normal people hear of the Tao,
They may hold notice it from a distance.
When unconscious people hear of the Tao,
They laugh and dismiss it.
The dismissal by unconscious people
Is what makes it the Tao.
The ancient wisdom says:
“The way to enlightenment looks dark,
Going forward often means going backwards,
An easy path seems hard at first.
The greatest usefulness can often seem useless.
Strength looks like weakness to the untrained eye.
Great music flows from simple notes.”
The Tao is everywhere, but appears nowhere.
It is the foundation of all things, yet very few ever find it.
