As Within, So Without
Taoists believe that a human’s body is like the body of nature. If we know our body, the interactions of our internal energy, and how to balance them, we can understand nature. Likewise, if we understand nature at a deep level, we come to understand ourselves.
Taoists believe that the birth of the universe is like the birth of a human. Science can explain so much, but what is the energy that animates the embryo and the emerging galaxy? What can we learn about ourselves from watching a thunderstorm? How can we create, within ourselves, the fresh and calm energy that follows the thunderstorm?
