Basically, I would summarize by saying that the Tao is about following the patterns of creation and of nature. Humans, as part of creation and nature, have the patterns of creation and nature inside of us. However, unlike the rest of nature, humans also have free will and the ability to choose. (Trees, Rivers, and most undomesticated animals just naturally follow their true nature). Humans and society collectively don’t seem to choose to follow the patterns of nature. The study of Taoism, simply put, is a study of learning to reclaim the ability to live our true nature and be in harmony with the rest of creation. Does this make sense?
