The skin, the hair, and the nails give us our beauty
But the inner essence makes the body move.
The bones are known for their hard and lasting nature,
But the marrow inside gives them their life.
Exercise makes the muscles strong and appealing,
But the quality of chi is the quality of life.
The world focuses on the outside,
But the alchemist cultivates the inside.
Book recommendation: The Speed of Trust, by Stephen Covey. I found this book to support the Taoist practice of the Fusion of the Five Elements where the virtue of trust corresponds to the earth element, stability, and the center of the other virtues and relationships.
“A groundbreaking and paradigm-shifting book, The Speed of Trust challenges our age-old assumption that trust is merely a soft, social virtue. Instead, it demonstrates that trust is a hard-edged, economic driver — a learnable and measurable skill that makes organizations more profitable, people more promotable, and relationships more energizing.”
