Low Center of Gravity
Keeping a low center of gravity can mean to ‘keep our mind where our body is.’ Our mental energy and awareness can float above the body fussing over some problem of the day or problem of some other day. Often, there isn’t even a problem; just creating mental constructs called problems when we don’t get what we want. It’s hard to see ‘the way’ and when we’re caught up ‘our way’ only.
Maintaining a low center of gravity, mentally, can keep us in our space. It can remind us to stay close to the present. In chi kung practices, this refers to breathing into the lower abdomen and allowing the diaphragm to move up and down. The movement if the diaphragm gently massages our internal organs and exercises our lungs to their full capacity.
